A good example of that is the Warwolf mod that I see on the Mount and Blade Warband workshop.Īlso does anyone else here play Stalker? I spent a good 30 hours in Oblivion Lost for SOC recently while trying to kill time for Fallout 4. Ive also seen modding efforts by Russian people for some games that are absolutely amazing in their scope, but I am too afraid to try them due to the dodgy english translation making it impossible to learn the crazy new mechanics that get added. Ive yet to play those games despite being a huge fan of turn based tactical games, since the translation to English isnt that great. Ive also seen a whole bunch of Jagged Alliance 2, well, not quite "knockoffs" but there's only so many ways a name like "New Jagged Union" can go. It could be that im seeing the indie portion, or the budget game portion. Ive seen a lot of Russian/Eastern Europe games from that one publisher come up on Steam, and generally they seem to be really good about coming up with really inventive concepts but often times I find that they are not programmed the best, or have the best production values. Although there's quite a big difference between Germany and Russia in that regard. There's a few other games from outside the anglosphere that hit upon a giant cult following, like Egosoft's X-Universe series. I assume that since Stalker is such a cult hit in the west that it must be pretty big over there. Just a question, what games are popular in Russia/Eastern Europe? Ive always loved the culture and wished I could go, but travel is expensive and if I did go to europe I think i'd enjoy Scandinavia more (Norse ruins!). Karine laverre Posts: 3439 Joined: Tue 7:50 am

I check other gameplays on Xbox One and PC and these version seems not afflicted from this 'issue', I check other languages gameplays on PS4 and they have this stupid issue (except english). The 2 year recording time for the English versions sound more like it was an iterative back and forth between the voice acting and the story writing there. I have Fallout 4 in italian language and i noticed that the audio localization (dubbing) is a shit. I'm pretty sure they have the voice acting recorded by November.

an AAA release such as FO4 is expected to release in English, FIGS, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean as the minimum. As is turned out, this was a problem with the localization studio and not with the developer not supporting the Koreans. see the Korean uproar to having their language packs for Witcher 3 released 2 weeks after the game's release. it's very uncommon for a recent game to not be released fully localized in all major language.

so my guess is it either releases fully localized, or it does not release at all.įor the record: it's 2015, we have online drm, that luckily lets us change language on the fly. There might be problems with having 12 bisixual companions and Russia's ridiculous laws lately. I don't think age restrictions to violence or nudity are a big concern for a publisher either (unlike in some countries in the west, where an R rating of PEGI 18 might seriously limit your sales). We've seen a lot of stellar post apocalyptic games (and movies and books) from Russia, so there is some interest for the theme. and what percentage of that will you be able to reach with your game. In the end, the question is: how big is the country's paying gamer population. I imagine any voice acting is done by a native synchro studio, so the cost of synchronization and the average price a game sells in a country usually go hand in hand.
